CO2-Carbon Dioxide

Product Details

Carbon dioxide is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CO₂. It is made up of molecules that each have one carbon atom covalently double bonded to two oxygen atoms. It is found in the gas state at room temperature and at normally-encountered concentrations it is odorless.

Carbon dioxide applications

Carbon dioxide has a wide range of uses in various sectors of the national economy. Carbon dioxide products are mainly extracted and recovered from gases such as synthetic ammonia hydrogen production process gas, fermentation gas, lime kiln gas, acid neutralization gas, ethylene oxidation side reaction gas and flue gas. The purity of commercial products is not less than 99% (volume).
Carbon dioxide can be injected into beverages to increase pressure, so that the beverages contain bubbles and increase the taste when drinking. Examples of this are soda and beer.
Solid carbon dioxide (or dry ice) will vaporize at room temperature and absorb a large amount of heat, so it can be used for rapid food freezing.
Carbon dioxide is heavier than air and does not support combustion, so many fire extinguishers use carbon dioxide to extinguish fires by using its characteristics. Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers directly use liquefied carbon dioxide to extinguish fires. In addition to the above characteristics, they have the advantage of not leaving solid residues after extinguishing the fire.
Carbon dioxide can also be used as a shielding gas for welding. Its protection effect is not as good as other rare gases (such as argon), but the price is relatively much cheaper.
Carbon dioxide laser is an important source of industrial lasers.
Carbon dioxide can be used to make wine. Carbon dioxide gas creates an oxygen-deficient environment, which helps prevent bacteria from growing on grapes.
Carbon dioxide can control pH. Carbon dioxide is added to swimming pools to control pH and to keep pH from rising.
Carbon dioxide can be used in the alkali and sugar industries.
Carbon dioxide can be used as a foaming agent in the plastics industry.
Dry ice can be used for artificial rain, stage smoke effects, food industry, special effects of gourmet food, etc.
Dry ice can be used to clean nuclear industry equipment and printing industry rollers, etc.
Dry ice can be used in automobiles, ships, aviation, space and electronics industries. Liquid carbon dioxide is converted into gas by decompression and separated from the fabric, completely eliminating the complex post-processing process brought by traditional solvents.
CO₂ supercritical extraction technology. When the temperature of carbon dioxide is higher than the critical temperature (Tc) 31℃ and the pressure is higher than the critical pressure (Pc) 3MPa, its properties will change. Its density is close to that of liquid, its viscosity is close to that of gas, and its diffusion coefficient is 100 times that of liquid. Therefore, it has a strong solubility. It can dissolve a variety of substances and then extract the effective ingredients. This technology can produce high value-added products and extract substances that could not be extracted by chemical methods in the past. It is cheap, non-toxic, safe and efficient. It is suitable for chemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries.
